OCTOBER 24...Fall is in the air!
WOW! It has been TOO LONG since I have written...I'm not sure who reads this much, except I know Taylor Martin does! Taylor, you and your family are a blessing in my life! I had a great blessing yesterday....all of our Sunday morning student ministry team met together at the Calamas home last night, and the teachers presented me and Jennie with a book filled with notes of appreciation from them. I was overwhelmed and really did not expect anything like that. God has used that book to remind me that what we are doing does make a difference. He is using our lives. He wants to use ALL of our lives so much. God is teaching me so much through going through EXPERIENCING GOD again...when you study God's word, the author himself is there to guide and instruct you...that is huge. Yesterday I taught the seniors, and remind them of this, that Jesus is sitting right beside you guiding you and teaching you. A prayer request...most of you know we are on the college hunt for our oldest daughter Alana...some of you probably get tired of hearing about that, but it is such a huge decision. We have visited many places, with at least one more to go, Shorter College in Rome Georgia this weekend. We had a great visit a few weeks ago to University of Mobile in Mobile, Alabama. God is definitely at work on that campus. Many can get caught up in the NAME of a college, the prestige, etc. but God is so much bigger than the acclaim that men may give to something, and we are seeking His plans. After all, He choose the least likely of people to do great things for Him, and He continues to do that. This is going to be a very busy week in our lives...pray that through the busyness Christ will shine through. Pray without ceasing, talk to God and He will speak to you, in so many ways, everyday. We just have to LISTEN and LOOK. Last weekend I helped perform the wedding of Amy Wilkerson and Drew Jernigan...Amy was a part of our youth ministry in Florence, SC and it was great to see her and many other friends from Florence, and the wedding was beautiful. It always means so much to Jennie and I to reconnect with people, and to watch young people grow into young men and women with a heart after serving the Lord. Write me back if you read this, let me know what God is doing in your life, and let's spur each other on to serve a mighty and awesome God! One last thing...yesterday the church in La Joya in the DR was REALLY on my mind alot...It is the least likely of places where I have felt God's spirit so strong in the past. Don't know what's going on there, but just had that on my heart so strong yesterday...I am going to write to Marsha Davidson, the missionary there today, and find out from here what might be going on. Can't wait to go back to the DR in April!
